Plan my own wedding

My sister got married before me and I was the one planning her entire wedding. So I had experience from before and knew exactly what I was supposed to do. 

I started planning my wedding 4-5 months before the actual wedding day. Whenever I met someone they always told me “OMG you look so calm, if it was my wedding I would freak out” Why on earth should I freak out when I’ve got everything under control?

So here is what I did

  • I designed my digital invitation cards in Adobe Illustrator
  • I booked a flight to Turkey and designed my own wedding dress (totally worth it!)
  • I looked for make up artists on Instagram, found one that I liked and booked her for my wedding day.
  • I made sure to order a comfortable pair of heels so I can dance all night long without getting tired.
  • My mother fixed the hair stylist. I booked an appointment with her, chopped and colored my hair. She was amazing so I booked her for my wedding day too!
  • I wanted to do white hennah tattoo for my wedding and found someone to do it for me.
  • I wrote my own guest list like 3 months before the wedding day.
  • I made my own music list to avoid people coming up at the DJ on the wedding day asking for songs I don’t like.
  • I visited a couple of flower markets and found something I liked. I did not tell them though that I was a bride because they charge you extra for no reason, honestly!
  • I found a photographer and videographer alhamdolillah, but God had other plans and she had to cancel. So I brought my ow camera and I’m glad I did because that’s like the only footage I have from my wedding. 
  • And of course last but not least, me and my best friend drove around looking for the perfect place to have the wedding at.

Skipped the cake! I don’t like the cake part of the wedding. It’s boring, it takes too long and I don’t even like cake.

Invited the people I really like. They were genuinely happy for me and the vibe was awesome

I’m sad that..

My photo/videographer cancelled. I was looking forward for some professional photos and videos and since I photograph and videograph weddings myself. I really wished that someone would do that for me. but well well..

Do I regret anything?

NO! I had sooooo much fun on my wedding day. I was the bride and the star of the show. I danced so much, I laughed so much and I was really enjoying myself. I would love to do it again and again!

What would I do differently?

I’d definitely choose another place to have my wedding at. I mean the area was beautiful and all but the place itself was not what I dreamt of. But I’m still happy with how It turned out anyway.
