Why did I create the Supportyourmuslim page on Instagram? For many reasons so where do I start?
This idea has been on my mind for as long as I can remember. When I travelled with my sister to London, when I travelled with my sisters to Paris, when I went on a honeymoon to Spain and when I started to live “My life in boxes” in 2019.
I was always looking for Halal restaurants during all these travels. When I then moved to Germany in 2019 and to The Netherlands in 2020, I was looking for muslim owned businesses to buy clothing, furnitures, decorations and arts from. I wanted to furnish my apartment and to support the muslim community at the same time. Win win situation.
When I then moved back to Sweden in 2021 and started to see how more and more muslim owned businesses started to come to life, how many individual muslims started to open shops on Instagram, I thought this is it. It’s now the time to create a platform to gather all these amazing businesses.
I believe in a strong community that support each other. People are losing their jobs because of the pandemic and it’s getting harder to find jobs now than ever before. (I’ve been looking for a job since January and I’m still jobless now in April) But at the same time people are creating jobs and opportunities and small businesses are popping up. I got so inspired by the #smallbusinesscheck hashtag on TikTok and decided to start my own small business as well. (It’s still in the making but will launch soon Inshallah)
So why did I create the Support your muslim page? Because I was longing for a platform that gathered all these businesses that would make it easier for me to find what I’m looking for in any country I’m in. To support the muslim community so these small businesses can grow globally and to create more job opportunities. Because as the prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) said: United we stand, divided we fall.
Spread the word and make sure to follow the page so we can grow stronger together as a community Inshallah!
